In these combination of photos I wanted to show you my before and afters. As you can see I am still not quite there in my SOOC (straight out of the camera) shots. My #1 goal for 2011 is to get it as close to perfect SOOC as I can. I am continuing to learn all my do's and don'ts of my manual settings. I struggle with exposure a lot of the time. I am getting a Grey card to perfect my white balance and am so excited to try it out. As long as I'm making some progress I am happy. My main focus is to cut down on my post-production time. I am still learning all the in & outs of this as well. Photoshop is slowly becoming my friend.  :)

My point in showing you my flaws is to see my progress as I grow as a photographer. These  were not the best shots to begin with. Of course the girls were perfect it was the photographer who was off. I am continuing to learn and better myself everyday. I want to tell all of my clients and friends "THANK YOU" so very much for helping me start my business this year. It has been fabulous and I am so excited to see what 2011 will bring.

Cutest Couple...

Hello everyone. I'm back. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. I had an amazing few days off. Now back to creating beautiful images for clients to enjoy.

Here is a sneak peak for Brindi. This was the funnest couple I had the opportunity to work with. She is a good friend of mine and a fellow photographer. I always get a little nervous when I do a shoot with another photographer. I  hope they like what I'm doing and didn't have a different idea in their creative mind. I did my best to capture some great shots of her and her husband. I think they are fabulous. Hopefully so will she. It's easy to get great shots when the couple you're working with truly loves each other and are happy. It shows through in their photos. As you can see...

These are just the tip of the iceberg Brindi. More to come soon...

It's good to be back. :)

All about me...

Well, here they are. Now if any of you know me, you know I absolutely hate having my photos done. I am very reluctant to be placing them on my blog. *Deep Breaths*

Yesterday I came across a contest on another photographers blog and it happened to be a self portrait contest. She made many good points about how people want to see a photo of you. It reflects good on your business to have a nice head shot.  I did it. I over came my fear of looking old, and haggard and put on a brave face for all of you. :)  For just me and the trusty tripod, I think they turned out ok. I challenge any of you who haven't been on the opposite side of the lens to give it a go. It gave me some insight to what my clients feel as I'm asking them to do all the weird things we do. It's all for the price of a great photo.

So which is your vote for me to enter in the contest???
        Enjoy :)

2 down 1 to go...

Well I did it. Here is my beautiful Korynn. Now I have successfully taken two out of three photo shoots of my beautiful children. You would think I had tons of pictures of them floating around, being a photographer and all, but I don't. I'm usually to busy shooting for clients and when I get home the last thing I want to do is make them pose for me. I enjoying playing, cooking, dancing or singing with them instead of bribing them to play model for me.

I am  very happy with how these have turned out. I am loving the grey and black colors with the neutrals of the grasses and the warmth of the sun through the fog. I always thought I loved the bright sun to play with, but I am learning more and more all the time. I LOVE FOG!!! It is like having a giant diffuser over head, and has given me the prettiest light I have ever seen. I'm learning to love over cast days too. If I could just figure out how to make it not look so grey.

I would never have know how much I loved to shoot in the fog if I hadn't tried it out. Here's my message for today..... Try new things, if it doesn't work out who cares. I'll never, never tell. :)

My Gorgeous Alissa

Oh My GOSH!!! This one is my absolute all time favorite to date :)

Just wanted to show you how my day went.... We had a blast in the snow. This is my oldest child. Scary huh? I am of course a very proud mother and think she is absolutely gorgeous. Not that I'm biased at all *wink wink*  I shot way to many pictures, but don't I always? These are just the tip of my iceberg of favorites. I couldn't choose just a few so I showed you lots. Enjoy and happy snappin :)

Now if I could figure out a perfect bribe to get my other 2 kids to do this..... :)

The "S" Family

Hello everyone! Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying this special season with all of your family and friends. I am trying to savor every minute with my family. I love this time of year. If anyone still needs family portraits done there is still time. The sessions I have had lately are just beautiful in this snow. They make lovely Christmas cards too.

This is the rest of a wonderful family shoot I took a few weeks ago, notice no snow. They were great to work with and sooooo cute! I just wanted to tell them all thank you for working with me and I'm looking forward to doing it again. And Kristy, you better keep that lil Missy under lock and key when she gets bigger, she's a doll!!! Never mind, I think big brother will take care of that. :) Thanks again!
